The Learning Foundry has been awarded funding to deliver a series of Retrofit and Domestic Energy Assessor Skills Bootcamps in the Liverpool City Region.
The Liverpool based training provider will deliver green skills and training, filling skills gaps in the region and supporting the important work towards the ‘Net Zero Carbon by 2040’ targets.
Their flexible, 8-12-week programmes are open to people who may be unemployed and looking to develop knowledge and skills for a career in the green skills sector, as well as people who are employed and looking to upskill in their current role.
Learners will complete a programme that will help them develop the skills needed to understand how to reduce the energy consumption of homes; this includes gaining qualifications in asset management, retrofit and domestic energy assessment.
The courses are co-designed with The Learning Foundry’s employer network and align to the knowledge and skills required for job roles in retrofit projects. The first round of skills bootcamps will be delivered with partners from the housing sector to upskill their staff – including One Vision Housing, Plus Dane, Livv Housing and Regenda Homes.
Claire Lee, Managing Director at The Learning Foundry, said: “This funding will enable us to support the Liverpool City Region to reduce skills gaps and fulfil retrofit projects quickly and efficiently across a range of sectors. It’s a brilliant opportunity for people who are in work, or looking for work, to get the knowledge and skills they need to develop a career in green skills.”
“We’re delighted that our first round of learners comes from the housing sector – we have a range of talent solutions designed to help organisations adapt to meet current challenges including retrofit targets, talent attraction and retention and customer satisfaction.”
Upskilling housing employees to develop the knowledge and skills of asset management, retrofit and domestic energy assessments means housing providers will reduce the energy consumption of their existing homes, and future stock, to meet regulatory requirements.
Ian Mitchell, Managing Director at One Vision Housing, part of The Sovini Group, said: “We are committed to providing our customers with homes that are fit for the future. This funding will give our colleagues the knowledge and skills needed to drive our commitment forward, as we aim to build a better future for communities across the North West.”
Paula Robinson, Interim Chief People and Communications Officer at The Sovini Group said: “We are dedicated to creating opportunities and changing lives for our colleagues, customers and the communities we serve. We have taken decisive action to tackle our carbon footprint and thanks to this grant from Liverpool City Region Housing Associations, our colleagues will benefit from valuable professional development, enabling us to accelerate action towards our goal of net-zero carbon.”
The Retrofit and Domestic Energy Assessor Skills Bootcamps are part-time courses designed to wrap around learners’ existing work commitments.
