The Business Administrator Apprentice is a key role within Cheshire West Early Help and Prevention Service, within the Young People Services, part of the wider Health & Wellbeing Directorate.

This apprentice role offers the opportunity to develop valuable experience of working within a clerical environment, completing specific administrative activities within agreed timescales in line with processes and procedures.

This role is essential to support the Youth Service to operate effectively, in addition to maintaining records, and systems for various work areas.

This apprenticeship will have a line manager, workplace
mentor, inclusive employment manager and a dedicated
apprentice programme tutor.

On successful completion of the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship Standard and review of performance, the post holder will progress to the substantive post of Business Support Officer.

This role is ‘Hybrid’ which means working from Council Hub buildings, from home or in client visits and must be able to travel across the Borough using of own vehicle for business purposes.

The apprenticeship length for this Level 3 Business Administrator
qualification is 18 months and 3 months duration to complete the End Point Assessment. Off-the-job training will be delivered on-site and via Microsoft Teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Apprentice will… with appropriate support and supervision:

• Provide general clerical support for the service (including data processing, photocopying, filing, collation of information, distribution of mail, etc.) to ensure the efficient and timely provision of information.

• Deal with telephone and face-to-face enquiries to ensure that all calls/visitors are handled efficiently and effectively and good relations fostered.

• Maintain and update business and performance data ensuring that accurate information is stored securely and available for use by appropriate persons.

• Checking, process and raise invoices to ensure that bills are paid accurately and promptly and accurate up-to-date financial records are maintained.

Ordering materials and equipment on behalf of the service maintaining stock levels of office supplies and consumables.

• Prepare reports and papers for meetings and attend meetings where required to present the information.

• Support and assist with the organisation of meetings and events.

• Provide clerical support for meetings, including preparing agendas, room bookings, minute taking.

• Other admin support functions including, purchase orders and procuring goods under the direction of the Community and Interventions Manager.

Business Administrator (Level 3) Apprenticeship Standard

This apprenticeship includes regular training with a college. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying either at your council work hub or online.

Training, studying and hours of work will be discussed during induction and your at your training plan meeting with your Tutor and Line Manager. Refer to the council’s job advert for details.  

This Apprenticeship is a permanent contract of employment. On successful completion of the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship Standard and review of performance, the post holder will progress to the substantive post of Business Support Officer.
