The Apprentice Business Administrator is a key role within
Cheshire West and Chester’s Customer Team part of the
Companies, Compliance and Assurance Service, which is within
the wider Corporate Directorate.
This apprentice role offers the opportunity to develop
valuable experience of working within a busy administrative
environment and acquire the skills and knowledge to
become a Business Support Assistant.
The Apprentice Business Administrator will provide a wide
range of essential administrative and business support
activities to assist the Customer Team and the wider
Companies, Compliance and Assurance Service.
This apprenticeship will have line manager, workplace mentor,
inclusive employment manager and a dedicated apprentice
programme tutor.
On successful completion of the Level 3 Business
Administrator Apprenticeship Standard and review of
performance, the post holder will progress to the
substantive post of Business Support Assistant.
This role is classed as ‘agile’ which means that the post holder’s
primary base will be to work from home, as well as at Council
offices and across the Borough, as required.
Notwithstanding the detail in this Job Role Profile, the job
holder will undertake such work as may be determined by the
Manager from time to time, up to or at a level consistent with
the Principal Responsibilities of the job.
Typical duration for this Level 3 Business Administrator
qualification is 18 months and 3 months duration to complete
the End Point Assessment. Apprenticeship training will be
delivered on-site and via Microsoft Teams.
Responsibilities- With appropriate support and supervision, the apprentice will:
- Undertake a range of administrative duties associated with Compliance and Assurance functions. Duties include logging, acknowledging, preparing responses and redacting personal information in order to comply with legislation and maintain an appropriate audit trail.
- Develop and maintain the team’s administrative systems and databases so the support provided is efficient and effective.
- Maintain accurate and current records in order to process, retrieve, analyse and cleanse data as necessary. Contribute to statistical reporting and analysis by Team Managers or Senior colleagues.
- Receive incoming calls and contact for the Compliance and Assurance Service, determine their importance and, when appropriate, respond or refer on to the appropriate officer..
- Process and retrieve information from the Council’s case management system in order to respond to routine enquiries from services, and senior colleagues and provide updates where possible.
- Provide occasional informal training to services across the council.
- Coordinate the Service’s internal communications strategy by preparing updates/bulletins/newsletters and assist with the set-up and organisation of internal networking events.
- Undertake and continuously improve the Service’s administrative tasks and provide general support to the Compliance and Assurance Service e.g. photocopying, scanning, meeting preparation, booking and support, maintaining and updating a business calendar/ forward look to facilitate the smooth running of the Service.
- Provide administrative support to the Compliance and Assurance Service on project work.
- An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
This Apprenticeship is a permanent contract of employment. On successful completion of the Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard and review of performance, the post holder will progress to the substantive post of Business Support Officer.
